Report: West Ham could entrust Enzo Maresca to replace Manuel Pellegrini

West Ham United bosses could turn to Manuel Pellegrini’s assistant Enzo Maresca if they feel the need to relieve the Chilean of his duties.

The 66-year-old is under serious pressure at the moment having overseen a dismal run of results lately.

The Hammers have just one win in their last 11 matches in all competitions, and Pellegrini is on the brink – another defeat against Southampton at the weekend would likely earn him the chop.

is Pellegrini’s right-hand man Maresca, who has recently been taking training sessions.

He supposedly masterminded the recent win over Chelsea, and is well respected by the players.

Maresca actually played for Pellegrini back when he was the manager of Malaga.

the 39-year-old Italian is ‘among the favourites’ to replace the former Manchester City manager.

TBR’s view – Maresca the man for the job?

Perhaps this would be a shrewd move by the Hammers if Pellegrini cannot turn things around.

Having arrived at the club at the same time as Pellegrini, Maresca knows the players very well, and the fact he has their respect is particularly ideal.

Getting someone in that’s completely new would be a big risk by club officials – Maresca should at least be given a decent run of games to prove himself if Pellegrini does indeed go.
