Report: West Ham could agree Gonzalo Montiel deal in ‘next few days’
El Intransigente has claimed that West Ham United could complete the signing of River Plate right-back Gonzalo Montiel in the ‘next few days’, as the summer window begins to hot up.
Four-time Argentina cap Montiel has been strongly linked with a move to West Ham for quite some time and now it appears a deal could be about to be completed. The 23-year-old’s move, though, is subject to one condition.
Indeed, that is for West Ham to confirm Premier League safety ahead of the 2020-21 campaign. A 4-0 win over Norwich City edged them well towards safety, but with three games left, they are only three above 18th place.
David Moyes looks to have secured safety, though. When they are safe, nothing is stopping from Montiel agreeing a move. He has a release clause worth £16million, but it is expected that a deal will be agreed for just £8million.

TBR’s view – Montiel signing not only crucial, but a bargain too
To be able to sign an Argentina international for as little as £8million with the player still only 23 years of age is incredible business. Montiel is a top, top right-back and the Hammers are landing a bargain.
He is not just a bargain that West Ham are signing due to his resale value, though. Pablo Zabaleta and Jeremy Ngakia have left, leaving the Hammers with just Ryan Fredericks. A right-back is needed, and Montiel is ideal.
