Report: West Ham battling Sam Allardyce for £13m-rated striker
that West Ham United are battling Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion over a move for Canada international Cyle Larin �who has rejuvenated his Besiktas spell with some excellent form this season.
Larin, 25, is in the form of his life at Besiktas this season �netting 16 goals in 30 league and cup appearances for the SuperLig giants, 13 of which have come in 25 league games. He joined the club from MLS side Orlando in January 2018.
In his first 18 months at the club, he managed just eight goals in 26 outings. It saw him go on loan in the summer of 2019, joining Belgian side Zulte Waregem where he had a hand in 20 goals during 33 games, and that saw Besiktas give him another chance.
He has taken it. Scoring at a better ratio of one goal every two games, he has boosted Besiktas �who sit in second, but only on goal difference. The report claims West Ham and Allardyce’s West Brom are keen, with Besiktas requesting a fee of £13million.
TBR’s view �Larin is the ideal kind of striker for West Ham
For multiple reasons. Chief among which, is that West Ham cannot attract a big-name striker because they will expect to start. With Michail Antonio on fire, and crucial to the identity of the club, he will continue to start up top.
So, the Hammers need a striker that is willing to play a bit-part role �and clock up 25 appearances in all competitions, with the Hammers looking to qualify for Europe. Perhaps even a striker that can also do a job out wide.
Larin is ideal. The forward can play on either flank, and in the 10 role as well as up front �and is likely to be okay with playing second fiddle to Antonio. At £13million, he is cheap, too. He is the perfect summer signing for West Ham.
