Report: West Ham are interested in Monaco forward Henry Onyekuru
West Ham have reportedly joined the race to try sign Henry Onyekuru from French top-flight club Monaco.
, the Hammers are one of the clubs that are interested in trying to sign the 23-year-old during the current January transfer window.
It is understood that Turkish club Fenerbahce, Basaksehir and Galatasaray are also keen on his signature, with the latter previously owning him on loan during two separate occasions.
Onyekuru needs a move away from Monaco, making just four appearances across all competitions this season.
He is a Nigeria international that has blistering speed and is a great dribbler of the ball, which is why the flair player has caught plenty of attention as a youngster.
The wide player previously joined Everton in 2017, but was denied a work permit to play and ended up joining Monaco on a permanent basis in 2019.

TBR’s View:
It’s unclear on if a work permit would be a problem again if Onyekuru tried to move to an English club, but regardless of that he seems a strange target for West Ham.
He may have the versatility to slot in as a striker, but he’s naturally a winger and David Moyes’ West Ham squad is stacked with wide players.
The Hammers desperately need to sign a centre-forward this month to help ease the workload of Michail Antonio, which is why their focus should lie there.
