Report: West Ham and West Brom eyeing £50k-a-week midfielder capable of ‘incredible’ feats
West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion are just two of the clubs rumoured to be interested in James McCarthy, according to the .
The Crystal Palace midfielder is out of contract in the summer, with the club still to discuss a new deal, and is thought to be on the radar of several teams in Britain.
McCarthy reportedly has several Premier League suitors, namely West Ham, West Brom, Burnley and Brighton – teams “recognising that he could prove a good addition as a free agent.”

Championship promotion chasers Bournemouth are also said to be monitoring developments regarding the man.
And north of the border, Celtic are apparently interested in signing McCarthy on a pre-contract as they weigh up an end-of-season overhaul for their squad.
McCarthy, capped 42 times for the Republic of Ireland, started the season strongly but has struggled for game time, with just eight appearances for Palace under his belt this term.

McCarthy has enjoyed a great career thus far, clocking up over 100 appearances for both Wigan and Everton, also winning the FA Cup with the former.
He has done well at Palace, but with little game time under his belt this term and an expiring contract, it’s understandable for him to potentially be looking for a change of scenery.
The Irishman excels in dictating the tempo, getting play moving, circulating possession and covering ground, with one great moment coming in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City a year ago.
McCarthy created Palace’s equaliser against City in the 90th minute, feeding Wilfried Zaha to run down the left wing and whip in a ball which led to Fernandinho turning into his own net.
“The action he performed for our equalising goal was quite incredible,” Roy Hodgson. “That amount of running at that point in the game and to produce that pass was a class act.”
While the report suggests that McCarthy is being earmarked as a summer signing, could the likes of West Ham and West Brom look to snap him up at a bargain fee this month?
