Report: West Ham and Leicester looking to sign AS Roma midfielder in January window

that West Ham United and Leicester City are interested in signing AS Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara and are preparing offers – with the report claiming Arsenal were keen in the summer.

Diawara, 23, joined Roma in the summer of 2019 and impressed in his first campaign – clocking up 30 appearances in all competitions for Paulo Fonseca’s side. But this season, he has been limited to just three outings, after a positive test.

His stock remains high, though, and the 11-time Guinea star returned to action with a substitute performance against Parma on Sunday. That comes after Arsenal were linked with the African ace, who cost Roma £19million () just over a year ago.

Roma sit third and Diawara is happy under Fonseca, even despite the increased competition. But Leicester and West Ham are planning to change that in January, as the two Premier League outfits prepare offers. Roma want at least £22.5million.

TBR’s view – Would Diawara be a good signing?

For most Premier League clubs, the African would be a solid addition. Enormous stamina and pace, the combative star combines endeavour with top-class quality, technique and 91% successful passing in his three outings this term ().

West Ham desperately need a midfielder. Mark Noble is no longer a starter, while Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have little other cover. Leicester have numerous options, but injuries to Wilfried Ndidi has left a gap. A good signing, for either side.
