Report: West Ham agree terms with AS Roma midfielder Steven Nzonzi

that Steven Nzonzi has agreed a move to West Ham United after falling out with the management at loan side Galatasaray, which saw him omitted from the club’s January training camp.

Nzonzi, 31, signed for Roma in the summer of 2018 and clocked up 39 appearances for the Serie A giants in his first season. But last summer he was deemed surplus to requirements, which saw Champions League side Gala snap him up on loan.

However, just halfway through his loan, the France cap is at loggerheads with Gala boss Fatih Terim. It is believed that after the Champions League exit – in which Nzonzi played five of the six group games – his focus on playing for the club has diminished.

So, after just 15 appearances for the Turkish side, Nzonzi is now set to leave and it is believed West Ham have agreed a move for the player. this week that a move for Nzonzi is likely to be a loan, with Roma receiving £3.5million.

TBR’s view – Nzonzi is a much-needed signing, even if expensive

To have to fork out £3.5million for just half a season’s loan is somewhat expensive, though it may go some way too paying a potential permanent fee. West Ham desperately need central midfielders, and Nzonzi is a top purchase.

Just take former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce’s word for it. He claimed, amid rumours Nzonzi was liked by Aston Villa, that the Frenchman is “If Villa fans think McGinn’s a good player, wait until they see Nzonzi.”
