Report: West Brom keen on Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, but on one condition

West Bromwich Albion could make a move for Andy Carroll this summer, that the Baggies pursuing the Newcastle United man could depend on whether Sam Allardyce stays at the Hawthorns.

Carroll’s future on Tyneside is uncertain. As noted by the Chronicle, the 32-year-old’s deal with the Magpies is currently set to expire at the end of the campaign.

The report claims he was unhappy not to get a chance in the 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break. And it appears that his situation is attracting attention from elsewhere.

, West Brom are interested in Carroll. It is suggested that the Baggies could make their move if Allardyce remains in charge next term.

Of course, there is also a big question mark over what the future holds for Allardyce. West Brom are currently 10 points off safety. And no team has won fewer games this season.

Carroll enjoyed one of the better seasons of his career while playing under Allardyce. He scored seven times in 24 Premier League games while on loan at West Ham.

And with West Brom proving to be the second-lowest goalscorers in the top flight this term, they certainly need to strengthen their attacking options – regardless of which division they find themselves in.

Nevertheless, a move for Carroll – who currently earns £75,000-a-week, -looks unlikely to excite the Baggies fans. He has scored once this season. And as he turned 32 earlier this year, it seems fair to say that he is edging towards the end of his career.
