Report: West Brom eyeing move for veteran Branislav Ivanovic

West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on signing former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

, the Baggies are in talks with the 36-year-old, who is a free agent after winding down his contract at Zenit St Petersburg.

The Serbia international is said to want a return to the Premier League, a competition he left back in 2017.

At his peak, Ivanovic was considered one of the best right-backs the Premier League has seen.

The star won a host of silverware during his time with Chelsea, including three league titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League.

Ivanovic is still in good shape, featuring 35 times last term for Zenit despite his advancing years.

The report claims West Brom would be unlikely to offer Ivanovic any more than a one-year deal.

TBR’s View – Ivanovic would be smart business

He may be reaching the end of his playing career, but a short-term deal for Ivanovic – who has the most caps for Serbia in history (105) – might just be worth it for Albion.

The star spent nine years with Chelsea in the Premier League and has a wealth of experience to bring to the table.

He’ll no doubt be lacking in the pace department (he was never the quickest even in his prime), but having a player like him in the dressing room and to fill in here and there could be a shrewd move by West Brom.
