Report: Villarreal to release Serge Aurier one year after Spurs exit
Serge Aurier will be looking for another new club one year after he left Tottenham Hotspur, that Villarreal plan to release the defender this summer.
Aurier left Spurs right at the end of the window. Tottenham had attempted to sell the Ivorian throughout the summer. However, they were ultimately unable to find a buyer for the 29-year-old.

The club managed to bring Emerson Royal in before the deadline passed. And with that, it was agreed for Aurier to leave by mutual termination.
It took the defender a little time to find his next club. But in early October, it was announced that he had linked up with former Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Villarreal. He signed a one-year deal, with an option for a further two years.

He has gone on to make 24 appearances for the Yellow Submarine. Aurier featured in both legs of their Champions League semi-final tie with Liverpool.
However, it appears that his appearance against Barcelona on the final day of the La Liga season will prove to be his last for Villarreal.
that Villarreal have decided to not take up the option to keep Aurier. It is claimed that he had not done enough with his performances to impress Emery.
Villarreal to release Aurier
Aurier had a very mixed time at Tottenham. On his day, he could be absolutely unplayable. Ryan Mason labelled one of his performances last season ‘‘.
However, you never felt that you were far away from an Aurier mistake. His challenge in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City summed him up well. It was a needless foul. And it proved to be incredibly costly as City scored the winner from the free-kick.
Perhaps Tottenham did not make the best decision releasing Aurier and signing Emerson Royal. It was not an easy campaign for Royal. And Spurs remain on the lookout for a new right wing-back.
They have been linked with several. But surely, they would not consider offering Aurier the chance to return.
Surely?
