Manchester United were after the 20-year-old too, but he ultimately penned a new deal with PSV.

“Yeah when you are doing well there is always interest,” he said, , when asked if Spurs and United made a move.

“It is best to stay at PSV this summer. It is the right decision.”

That seemingly put an end to any talk of a move away, at least for this season.

“I will be ready”

But since then, Madueke has set the likes of Villa, Spurs, Leeds and Man United on high alert once again.

Speaking ahead of the Leicester game, Madueke said he “definitely” wants a Premier League move to be the “next” step in his career.

When asked by if he wants to return to England, Madueke replied: “I definitely want to play there next.

“Whether it is this summer or whenever it is, for now, I am focusing on the rest of the season.

“It is definitely an ambition of mine to play there.

“I have had a kickstart in my career by playing a lot of games at a young age.

“I feel like I will be ready for any step I take.”

Madueke spent time with Tottenham and Crystal Palace before joining PSV in 2018.

He has made 67 competitive appearances for the Dutch giants, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists.

Madueke is also in the England Under-21 setup, and their shared an “outrageous” piece of skill from him during the international break.

Villa would be a great shout for Madueke, one of the best up-and-coming English talents right now.

And with Gerrard in charge, the Villans certainly have pulling power, as shown by the likes of Philippe Coutinho plying their trade in claret-and-blue.
