Report: ‘Very special’ player now really upset at his current club, just months after rejecting move to Tottenham
It is no secret at this point that Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte’s priority target in the January transfer window was Wolverhampton Wanderers star Adama Traore.
Spurs fans had a really frustrating first 25 days of the winter window. They just couldn’t get any deal over the line, and it almost seemed like they’d fail to sign anyone.
Fabio Paratici then used his Juventus connections to secure deals for Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Betancur in the final few days of the transfer window. Both players are proving to be excellent signings, but do Tottenham regret missing out on Traore?
Probably not, but we have a feeling the Wolves man may now be regretting his decision to snub Spurs.
Tottenham-linked Adama Traore very upset at Barcelona
After , Traore accepted an offer from Barcelona and joined the Catalans on loan until the end of this season.
The talented winger had a really good start to life at the Camp Nou as well, starting three of his first four league games and picking up assists in his first two appearances.
However, Traore hasn’t started once in La Liga since. He has played a grand total of 63 minutes of football in the league since the end of February and it looks like his time there will soon be up.
Spanish outlet reveal today that it is evident to everyone at the club that Barcelona boss Xavi doesn’t prefer him. That may yet change, but as things stand, Traore is really upset and it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll be sent back to Wolves at the end of this season.
Why did the Spaniard reject Spurs?
Tottenham tried long and hard to sign Traore and even made a few official bids. Just when it seemed like they could agree a deal with the Spaniard’s club, they realised that the player himself wasn’t keen.
revealed after Traore joined Barcelona that the winger had no interest in playing as a wing-back for Conte. That stance become stronger once Xavi’s side came into the picture, and it became a straightforward deal to complete at that point.
A little over three months after the end of the January transfer window now, we must say Tottenham are in a much better place at the moment compared to the winger,
If Traore returns to Wolves this summer, it will be interesting to see if Tottenham will try to sign him again as they really do need a right wing-back.
