Unai Emery is amongst the managers keen on signing Pablo Mari, that Villarreal are one of a host of sides interested in the Arsenal centre-back.

that Sampdoria lead the race. Meanwhile, AC Milan, Torino, Fiorentina and Udinese also want to bring the 28-year-old to Serie A.

But there is also interest from Valencia and Villarreal. Of course, joining the latter would see Mari work with former Arsenal boss Emery. The Spaniard was sacked two months before the defender moved to the Emirates on loan.

The report claims that he is being considered in case Pau Torres leaves.

Arsenal will hope interest in Pablo Mari drives up asking price

Of course, Arsenal are unlikely to receive a game-changing sum for Mari. He has not had the easiest time at the Emirates. But the amount of interest is surely good news for the Gunners.

He earns £85,000-a-week, . So moving his wages off the books would be a boost.

And Arteta will not say no to a subsequent boost to his transfer kitty. The Gunners have their own plans for this window. And it is hard to see Mari becoming a regular fixture in the Arsenal side anytime in the future – despite Arteta previously describing him as a ‘‘.

With so many sides keen, Arsenal are surely in with a good chance of receiving a suitable offer for Mari.
