Report: UEL club to bid for £6.8m-rated West Ham ace; player has been ‘hoping’ for move for a year
Lazio will reportedly make a loan bid with an obligation to buy transfer offer for West Ham attacker Felipe Anderson.
, Maurizio Sarris is a fan of the Brazilian winger. Anderson spent last season on loan with Portuguese giants FC Porto. This summer, however, the 28-year-old forward is expected to leave the east London side for good.
As per the report, Lazio will make an initial loan offer with an obligation to buy for €8m (£6.8m). The report also states that Anderson has been ‘hoping’ for a move back to the Serie A side for over a year.
Another transfer misstep for West Ham
Anderson joined West Ham in 2018 for a then club-record fee of £36m . However, the Brazilian has struggled to maintain the form that once made the attacker one of the most sought-after wingers in world football.
After losing his spot in the first-team under David Moyes, Anderson has fallen deeper into obscurity with the Hammers, culminating in a loan spell to Porto last season.
However, that too proved to be a failure as the winger made just ten appearances for the club.
Anderson could be the next player West Ham make a loss on should he move back to Lazio this summer. The Irons signed Sebastien Haller for a club-record fee in 2019, only to sell him 18 months later to Ajax for a fee of nearly half of what the east London side originally paid for him.
West Ham need to take the financial hit to complete Felipe Anderson transfer
Whilst supporters will no doubt be frustrated that the club set to lose a good chunk of money by selling Anderson for cheap, it is a decision that West Ham need to make for the betterment of all parties.
The Brazilian deserves to be at a club where he could revive his career. And with Anderson one of West Ham’s highest-paid players, the Hammers can do with relieving some unnecessary funds off the wage bill to help fund moves for other names in the transfer market.
