Report: UCL side in contact with agent of 7-goal, 6-assist Everton target, he likes the move ‘a lot’

Borussia Dortmund are considering a move to sign AC Milan striker and Everton transfer target Rafael Leao, according to .

The Bundesliga outfit are mulling over the terms of a potential bid for the forward after speaking with his agent. Dortmund contacted Jorge Mendes recently to gauge a better understanding of his situation at the San Siro.

Milan Technical Director Paolo Maldini has never wavered in his conviction that Leao has the potential to be a star. But the Rossoneri icon would listen to bids for the Portuguese to reinvest in the club’s summer transfer goals.

Maldini would demand at last €30m (£26m) to generate enough capital gain from Leao leaving Milan. The Serie A giants paid Lille (£30m) in 2019 and have seen the 22-year-old score 13 goals and nine assists in .

The U21 international struck seven of his goals and six assists last season. He also featured on either wing and a shadow striker role, along with minutes in his natural centre-forward position under Stefano Pioli.

Milan can hold firm in their asking price as Wolverhampton Wanderers and Marseille also admire Leao. Mendes has also attempted to work on a deal to swap the Portuguese with James Rodriguez as Everton admire him, as well.

But Leao would look positively on a move to Borussia Dortmund, as it is a club he likes ‘a lot’ in the respect of playing for next season, per Calciomercato. A move to the Westfalenstadion will also see him play in the Champions League.

TBR’s view: Leao deals Everton blow with Dortmund interest

Borussia Dortmund have dealt Everton a blow over their Leao interest by also admiring what the Milan striker can offer. But the Portuguese has delivered a bigger knockback by liking the idea of life in Germany next season ‘a lot’.

Everton may struggle to convince Leao to ignore the chance to join Dortmund and move to Merseyside instead. He would be giving up European action for a year by joining the Toffees, who are currently managerless, too.

The difficult adaptation Moise Kean endured during 2019/20 after a move from Juventus could also count against Everton. Leao may fear having similar challenges coming to terms with the demands of the Premier league, after the Italian scored just games before leaving for PSG on loan.
