Report: Tottenham want to extend Serge Aurier contract, German clubs keen
that Tottenham Hotspur are keen to extend Serge Aurier’s contract and could strike a deal for the Ivorian right-back very soon, with the report claiming an agreement could be announced in the ‘coming days’.
Aurier, 27, has started all but two of Jose Mourinho’s 16 league and cup outings since the Portuguese manager took control. Beforehand, Aurier was somewhat in and out of the side under Mauricio Pochettino.
It is a big boost for Aurier, who had been forced to play a rotational role under Pochettino – managing just 41 appearances in his first two seasons at Spurs. He already has 24 appearances in all competitions this time around.
German Bundesliga sides are said to be keen on signing the former Paris Saint-Germain defender, with the £23million () signing desperate also wanting to stay. The report claims ‘the situation is expected to accelerate in the coming days’.

TBR’s view – Absolute no-brainer for Tottenham to extend Aurier deal
Aurier has been excellent this season, going forward especially. The right-back has laid on seven assists – five of which have come under Jose Mourinho – and even scored himself in a 4-2 win over Olympiacos.
With his contract expiring in the summer of 2022, doubts will begin to arise next season when he enters the final two years of his deal. Signing a contract now will see Spurs protect their assets, and prevent another Christian Eriksen type exit.
