Report: Tottenham want Lewis Dunk; but look set to miss out

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Lewis Dunk, that Jose Mourinho is looking set to miss out on the Brighton captain this summer.

Dunk has been a stalwart for the Seagulls’ defence since their promotion. He has only missed four league games across their three campaigns in the top flight.

TBR View: Blow for Spurs to miss out

It may not come as a huge surprise to Tottenham fans to see Dunk linked with a move to North London. And, unfortunately, it may also come as little surprise that the club look set to miss out amid talk of a £40 million move elsewhere.

Mourinho has previously hinted that Spurs will not be spending large sums during this window (via ).

And thus, spending £40 million on Dunk – who turns 29 in November – would have surely taken many aback.

Centre-back does not appear to be an area that Tottenham need to address urgently during this window if Mourinho’s budget is limited.

Dunk would have arguably been an excellent addition. He has proved that he ticks so many boxes during the Seagulls’ time at the highest level.

And in truth, Tottenham were probably always going to struggle up against his boyhood club.

It is a blow that they seemingly look set to miss out. But it appears to be a blow that Mourinho would have probably anticipated.
