Report: Tottenham take lead in race to sign Euro 2020 star, same agent as Pjanic

Tottenham are reportedly preparing to assert their lead in the race for Benfica striker Haris Seferovic.

, Spurs ‘insist’ on signing the 29-year-old attacker. However, the report also states that the Portuguese giants are not actively looking to sell their main forward this summer.

Seferovic has been one of the standout names from Euro 2020. The Swiss international scored twice against Hugo Lloris in Switzerland’s 3-3 draw against the reigning World Cup champions. In total, the attacker bagged three goals in this summer’s competition.

As per the report, Seferovic has a release clause of €60m (£51m). Tottenham could lose Harry Kane this summer. But as things stand, Daniel Levy will not allow his star striker to leave the north London club.

Indeed, interest in Seferovic could increase this summer based on his performances in the Euros. However, with the Swiss star’s deal with Benfica expiring in 2024, it will take some financial effort for the Lisbon side to part with the attacker.

Tottenham could have an unusual boost in the race for the striker, though. As shows, Seferovic has the same agent as FC Barcelona star Miralem Pjanic, a midfielder who Managing Director of Football Fabio Paratici has signed in the past for Juventus.

A striker might be needed this summer in the white half of north London. And Seferovic could be a solid short-term option for Spurs should Kane depart in the transfer window.

The 29-year-old attacker is in the prime of his career, and coming off the back of an impressive summer with Switzerland, Seferovic could hit the Premier League running with Tottenham with the likes of Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura supporting him.
