Report: Tottenham set sights on Premier League star who’s got Kane ‘excited’

Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League teams reportedly keeping tabs on Crystal Palace ace Tyrick Mitchell.

According to , Spurs are eyeing the 22-year-old alongside Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle.

Tottenham currently have Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon vying for the left wing-back slot.

However, Reguilon has been linked with a move away, while Sessegnon is improving but his injury record is still a bit concerning.

Therefore, there’s certainly scope for Antonio Conte to be looking at potential reinforcements in that position.

Mitchell would be a great shout for Tottenham as he has proven himself to be a superb, consistent and hard-working Premier League player.

The Eagles man has missed just eight minutes of Premier League action since May last year.

Mitchell is second only to Brentford’s Christian Norgaard for most top-flight tackles this term, and third for most crosses blocked.

However, it won’t be easy for Spurs to land him – he’s got a contract until 2025 and appears to be loving life at Selhurst Park.

“Really good for the squad”

Gareth Southgate called Mitchell up to the England squad on Monday as a replacement for the injured Reece James.

March Guehi also earned his first Three Lions call-up, and captain Harry Kane praised both players on Wednesday.

“It is great to have new faces in the squad, young faces, I feel like I am getting older and older by the day,” quotes the Tottenham star as saying.

“It is great to see them. I obviously know Kyle [Walker-Peters] from when he was at Spurs. He is a great lad, he works really hard and he has done really well at Southampton.

“With Marc and Tyrick have come in and settled in well and it is really good for the squad. It is good to have young players coming through and we are excited to see them over the next week or so.”
