Report: Tottenham ‘remain committed’ to signing Benfica star, will have to pay £46m
that Tottenham Hotspur ‘remain committed’ in their pursuit of Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius following his stunning 2019-20 campaign – but they may have to spend a whopping £46million.
Vinicius, 25, caught the eye last season after netting an enormous 24 goals in 47 league and cup appearances for Benfica. In that time, Brazilian also created 13 goals – despite starting only 24 of his 47 matches for the Portuguese giants.
Spurs remain on the lookout for a back-up striker this summer, with time running out before the window slams shut on buying players from foreign clubs next Monday. Vinicius has been linked all over Europe this summer.
Now, it is claimed that Spurs ‘remain committed’ in signing the Brazilian forward even though the forward would cost Spurs an enormous figure of £46million. Whether a deal can be put together before Monday remains to be seen.

TBR’s view – Vinicius would be a stunning signing
But at this late point in the window, do Spurs really have the necessary funds to pull off a deal before the close of play? They have left it very late, given that Benfica would have little time to replace the South American goal machine.
Nevertheless, Vinicius – who is renowned for his explosive finishing and incredible strength – would be an excellent addition to Tottenham and Mourinho’s side as they embark on a Europa League campaign alongside domestic competitions.
Even at £46million, he would be a good signing. Spurs must act quickly, but they may have left it too late.
