The Portuguese manager took over Spurs earlier in the month. And the 22-year-old defender looks likely to be Tottenham’s first arrival this summer.

Spurs are eager to improve on their ageing defence this summer. And Tomiyasu could be an ideal signing to fix two problems for the north London club.

The Japanese international is accomplished at both centre-back and right-back. And for Bologna, Tomiyasu has proven to be athletic enough to deal with some of Serie A’s top attackers.

Moreover, his age means that Tomiyasu has plenty of time to develop his game and to hone his craft into the style that can flourish in the Premier League.

With players like Toby Alderweireld to learn from, the Japanese star is in good hands to learn the ropes of English football.

Furthermore, with pre-season just kicking off for Tottenham, Tomiyasu has a good amount of time to adjust to his new surroundings. As well as to get to know his new environment.
