Report: Tottenham on the verge of smashing club-record transfer

that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘on the verge’ of completing a club-record deal to sign Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

Still only 22 years of age, Ndombele has been recognised as one of the best young central midfielders in Europe already as he continues to shine for Lyon both in France and in European competition.

Despite his tender age, he was one of the first names on the team sheet for Lyon last season. Indeed, he clocked up 49 appearances, playing every one of Lyon’s eight Champions League matches.

Spurs have long been linked with a move for the four-time France international, and it now appears they are set to break their own transfer record which is currently Davinson Sanchez’s £42million move from Ajax.

It is believed Spurs and Lyon have agreed a fee in the region of £55million plus bonuses in order to land Ndombele, and Di Marzio claims the two parties are within inches of completing a deal for the French maestro.

TBR’s view – are Tottenham getting a good deal for Ndombele?

Finally, Tottenham look as though they are about to complete a signing. For the first time since January 2018, the club are bringing in a big-name player and they have certainly picked the right one.

Not only are Spurs crying out for a central midfielder after Mousa Dembele’s exit, but the player they are bringing in can transform Spurs. So much so, the fee they are paying is somewhat on the cheap side.

Powerful, intelligent, technically gifted, quick and more than willing to get forward, Ndombele will significantly improve Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield. He could be the key in joining Liverpool and Manchester City at the top.
