Report: Tottenham offered Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti
Tottenham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
, the French enforcer has been made available for Spurs to sign this January.
The report explains that manager Jose Mourinho wants to strengthen in the heart of defence and has now been offered Barcelona’s powerhouse centre-back.
It is unclear on if the North London club are going to pursue the 26-year-old, but he’s a high-profile name that has won two La Liga titles and a World Cup with France.
Umtiti has only played eight games across all competitions this season due to form and injuries, while last campaign he only managed 15 games in all competitions.
But the left-footed defender was once a mainstay in the Barcelona backline and has proven himself at the elite level before.

TBR’s View:
Umtiti would have been a superb addition for Spurs a couple of years ago, but now he would arrive with a real element of risk considering his poor injury record.
He’s got the pace and power that could make him a hit in the Premier League, but he looks a long way off his best right now.
Meanwhile, Mourinho should be focusing on other areas of the pitch aside from the centre-back positions.
There are plenty of options within the squad at present, but the same can’t be said for the striker and full-back positions.
