According to , Tottenham Hotspur are now keeping tabs on AS Roma star Henrikh Mkhitaryan ahead of the summer transfer window.

The now 33-year-old, who spent two-and-a-half years as an Arsenal-owned player, is just a few weeks away from the end of his contract at the Italian capital. Jose Mourinho’s side are keen to retain his services, but there are other interested clubs too.

Mkhitaryan has been brilliant for Roma, having scored 29 goals and provided 28 assists in 116 appearances in all competitions since the start of the 2019/20 season.

Tottenham want to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Mourinho had his fair share of problems with Mkhitaryan when the two were together at Manchester United. However, that hatchet seems to have been buried now, and the Roma boss absolutely loves him.

The report claims that Mourinho views Mkhitaryan as an integral part of his plans at Roma.

The Armenian has been offered a two-year contract extension already, and although he isn’t opposed to signing it, Pedulla warns that there could be a few surprises in the coming days.

Tottenham, Aston Villa and Napoli are all reportedly looking at Mkhitaryan, and if Roma can’t get him to sign a new deal, one of them could make a move for him this summer.

Arsenal terminated his contract just 20 months ago

Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal from Manchester United in January 2018 in one of the worst swap deals in Premier League history. Alexis Sanchez went the other way, and although Gooners will argue that the Red Devils got the worse deal, it’s nothing to brag about.

After just 18 months at the Emirates, Unai Emery loaned the Armenian out to Roma. After a successful spell there, Mkhitaryan struck a deal with Arsenal to terminate his contract in August 2021, about 20 months ago.

Nobody really expects the 33-year-old to return to the Premier League after his disastrous spells at Arsenal and Manchester United, but if there’s one manager who can make him a real star in England, it’s Antonio Conte.

However, we can’t imagine Tottenham offering a deal to sign Mkhitaryan this summer.
