Report: Tottenham now keen to sign 26-year-old ‘class act’ who has just left the World Cup

The World Cup has given Tottenham Hotspur fans the chance to check out a number of their transfer targets.

Antonio Conte has made it clear he wants reinforcements in January, and plenty of players have been linked.

There are a number of areas that Spurs seen keen to reinforce in their squad.

A ready-made back-up to Dejan Kulusevski looks to be a priority, given the drop off in the side’s performances without him.

There may also be a need to sign another central defender.

Japhet Tanganga looks set to leave the club either on loan, or a permanent deal in the near future.

There are also question marks over the future of Davinson Sanchez.

However, Spurs don’t currently have an attacking, central playmaker, and it really showed in Kulusevski’s absence.

To solve this, Tottenham want to sign Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada.

Spurs looking to solve playmaker conundrum

In the absence of Kulusevski, Richarlison and Son Heung-min to injury, Conte added an extra central midfielder to the mix.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have been brilliant all season, and chipped in with goals and assists.

However, the balance of the side looked all wrong when either Yves Bissouma or Oliver Skipp were added to the mix.

Tottenham looked bereft of ideas going forward, and Harry Kane became very isolated.

Spurs have previously been linked with James Maddison, who could fulfil that role.

And Tottenham now wanting to sign Kamada shows they’ve recognised this gap in their current squad.

Tottenham want to sign Japanese star Kamada

Kamada has been one of the most impressive playmakers in the Bundesliga over recent seasons.

Typically playing in a central, attacking role behind a forward, he already has seven goals and three assists this season.

He helped Frankfurt win the Europa League this season, and has three Champions League goals this campaign.

The ‘class act’ couldn’t prevent Japan from losing a penalty shootout against Croatia at the World Cup last week.

However, the interest in his future, with Tottenham now wanting to sign Kamada, shows he’s displaying his abilities brilliantly.
