Report: Tottenham now close to selling ‘very good’ £21m-rated player
Tottenham Hotspur believe that they will agree a deal with Ajax for Steven Bergwijn before the January window closes, with the two clubs not far apart on a fee, .
Bergwijn appeared to end any speculation over his future with a stunning stoppage-time brace as Spurs beat Leicester City in the Premier League earlier this month.

The goals were seemingly a big blow for Ajax. The Eredivisie champions had previously offered £15 million for the 24-year-old in this window. And any hope of reaching an agreement looked to be dashed.
However, it now appears that talks are back on track. that Ajax have now made an improved £18.3 million bid for Bergwijn.

Meanwhile, Daniel Levy has dropped his asking price to £21 million. And that reportedly leaves both sides believing that an agreement will be reached before the deadline passes.
Tottenham may be right to let Bergwijn join Ajax – as long as new signings are imminent
It is a surprise that Bergwijn is now seemingly on the verge of leaving Tottenham for Ajax in this window. Of course, Antonio Conte may have always been wary of reading too much into his two goals at the King Power Stadium – though the Italian has previously him a ‘very good‘ player.
The large majority of his time at Tottenham has been frustrating for Bergwijn. And Spurs may simply feel that a significant offer is too good to turn down this month.
Obviously, it adds to the pressure on Fabio Paratici in the final hours of the window. Letting Bergwijn go only makes sense if at least one new signing comes in.
Spurs’ window has not gone to plan thus far. And for some, letting Bergwijn go may be a baffling decision from Tottenham.
But it would appear that both sides are now expecting Bergwijn to seal a return to the Netherlands before the transfer window closes.
