Report: Tottenham now a step ahead of Jose Mourinho in race to sign ‘phenomenal’ 23-year-old
Tottenham face a battle with Jose Mourinho in the transfer chase for Eintracht Frankfurt central defender Evan Ndicka.
Italian outlet report that Mourinho’s men in the Italian capital want the 23-year-old to bolster their backline.
But they say that they look to be a step behind Spurs in the race, with Newcastle United and AC Milan also sniffing around.
Spurs need a long-term central defensive option, which they went looking for in the summer but got Clement Lenglet on loan.

Tottenham ahead of Roma for Ndicka
It seems that Mourinho is not the only adversary Spurs need to get past if they do sign Ndicka either in January or the summer.
Journalist Ben Jacobs told : “Arsenal like the player (Ndicka).
“They’ve certainly done their legwork and their due diligence and their scouting on him. There’s a lot of interest in the player, not just from the Premier League but from all across Europe as well.”
So it could be a great transfer battle for the bargain defender, who has been branded as ‘phenomenal’ by Adi Hutter as per .
He has Champions League experience from this season too, as Frankfurt got into the last 16 alongside Tottenham from Group D.
Spurs got the chance to see him up close then, and it will be interesting to see who ends up winning the race for his signature.
