Report: Tottenham monitoring Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou
Tottenham Hotspur are considering another move to sign a central defender ahead of the January window – and Borussia Dortmund centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou has appeared on their shortlist.
Zagadou, 21, earned the reputation of one of Europe’s most-exciting young central defenders after completing a move from PSG to Dortmund in 2017 and breaking into the senior side. But injury has hampered his progress.
Having clocked up 60 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions, France Under-21 international Zagadou suffered ruptured knee ligaments towards the back end of last season. His injury issues worsened this season.
Recovering from his first setback, Zagadou then picked up an injury while on international duty and that has seen him fail to play during 2020-21. The report claims Spurs have looked at Zagadou, but his injury may prevent a move.

TBR’s view – A more promising version of Sanchez?
Spurs brought in Davinson Sanchez from Ajax largely after his impressive outing against Manchester United and Jose Mourinho in the Europa League final of 2017. His pace is his best attribute, but mistakes are occuring.
He has lost his place in the side to Toby Alderweireld and Eric Dier, while Joe Rodon started over Sanchez against Chelsea on Sunday. Another centre-back, especially one with pace such as Zagadou, could end the Colombian’s spell.
