Report: Tottenham management don’t want ‘world class’ player at Spurs this season, have blocked any transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with a possible move for Memphis Depay this summer, but.

Reports have suggested that Spurs have made an approach for Depay this summer as the Dutchman looks set to be frozen out at Barca.

The 28-year-old has been dubbed as ‘world-class’ but he now faces increased competition at Camp Nou after the signings of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha.

Spurs have been mooted as a possible destination for Depay but it seems that he won’t be moving to North London this summer.

Tottenham management don’t want Depay

In the latest update, during the current window.

The Spanish outlet claims reports that Tottenham would be willing to sign the player as part of an exchange deal are wide of the mark.

This week, reports suggested that Barca were ready to drop Depay’s asking price as they look to offload the forward this summer.

But it seems that Spurs may not bite as the board have blocked a move for the Dutch international.

Depay a victim of Xavi’s revolution at Barca

Depay has performed pretty well at the Catalan club since arriving on a free transfer last summer.

The 28-year-old completed the switch after eye-catching displays during the Euros for Holland.

The Dutchman finished as the club’s top goal scorer last season as he scored 13 times in 38 games, but now it looks like he doesn’t feature in Xavi’s plans.

The Spanish manager is reshaping his Barca squad and it seems that Depay will become a victim of the overhaul.

If Spurs are no longer interested in the player, then it may be that Depay has to wait until his contract expires at Camp Nou next year.

It’s probably a wise move from the Tottenham management as they have already added a similar player in Richarlison this summer.

Antonio Conte has plenty of depth in attacking positions and the club may be looking to prioritise other areas of the pitch.
