Report: Tottenham keeping tabs on Ronaldo Vieira, Leeds have also scouted

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been keeping tabs on Sampdoria midfielder Ronaldo Vieira.

, the north Londoners are one of several teams interested in the 22-year-old, who has been with the Serie A outfit since the summer of 2018 after leaving Leeds United.

Il Secolo actually also claim that Vieira’s former club sent scouts to watch him last month with a view to potentially bringing him back to Elland Road.

Everton are also named in the report, as are other Premier League sides Leicester City, Southampton and Burnley.

Not only is Vieira being classed as a homegrown talent a big part of his appeal, but it is also claimed Sampdoria would be willing to let him go for a fee of at least €10 million/£9 million.

The club are said to need to make sales this window, with Vieira, Omar Colley, Bartosz Bereszynski and Gaston Ramirez all listed as potential means of generating funds.

Tottenham’s supposed interest comes despite having just landed another midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton.

TBR’s View – Leeds surely the more likely destination

Vieira is probably more likely to complete a move back to West Yorkshire than go to Spurs.

Whites owner Andrea Radrizzani admitted he had to cash in on Vieira to boost his transfer kitty in 2018 (), and that Marcelo Bielsa never wanted him to depart, so a return should not be ruled out.

Spurs signing Hojbjerg surely makes it hard to see another midfielder coming in – unless of course, Jose Mourinho moves to offload one of his current options.
