According to a report from the this weekend, Tottenham are among the teams looking to sign Stoke City defender, Harry Souttar.

Spurs are not averse to looking at the Championship for new players. In recent years they’ve signed the likes of Ryan Sessegnon and Joe Rodon.

TBR’s View: Souttar the next big thing from the Championship?

It’s certainly looking that way. Souttar has been outstanding this season for Stoke and is a key part of what looks like a push for the top six.

The problem for teams like Stoke is that Premier League clubs want bargains now due to the pandemic. And the Championship is often a smart place to shop.

Tottenham have already strengthened their defensive ranks with Cristian Romero this summer. But the likes of Eric Dier have been under pressure, while Toby Alderweireld left in the summer.

Souttar, then, could well be a smart long-term investment for Tottenham and indeed Everton.
