Report: Tottenham just £3m off club’s valuation to sign ‘incredible’ right wing-back today

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Djed Spence over the past few weeks.

But with just a few hours left of the January transfer window, Spurs are reportedly just slightly off his valuation.

According to , Tottenham have had two bids rejected by Middlesbrough for Spence.

Spurs reportedly made the offers last week and both fell ‘considerably’ below Boro’s £15million valuation.

Barring an improved late bid in the next few hours, Spence will likely resolve his future in the summer, added ESPN.

Similarly, reported that Spurs tried their luck to sign him at the back end of the January transfer window.

This was in order to skip the queue likely to form for Spence in the summer.

Tottenham reportedly bid £12million plus add-ons but Boro rejected their offer, added 90Min.

As well as Spurs, Arsenal and Leeds are apparently keeping tabs on Spence.

Spence is a top talent who’s been shining on loan at Nottingham Forest this season.

He announced himself to a nationwide audience earlier this month when he helped knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup.

Michael Bridge told last week that Spence is “one of a number of players” Tottenham are eyeing.

“Spence was incredible against Arsenal in the FA Cup,” he said.

“But Spurs have been looking at Spence for a lot longer than that.”

You could argue that Spence is untested in the Premier League.

And of course, the fact he’s played for two teams this season means Tottenham won’t be able to play him this term.

But chances are, if he helps Forest get promoted, the Reds will have a good chance of signing the player permanently.

There’s also the risk Boro could choose to keep him – they’re challenging for promotion too.

And then there’s the threat of other teams being alerted to his quality and mounting bids.

Besides, Spence isn’t exactly inexperienced – he has made 70 competitive appearances for Boro and 23 for Forest.

Sure, £15million is a bit pricey for a Championship-level full-back.

But if Spurs are reportedly willing to spend £12million, they should just up their bid and make him theirs.
