Report: Tottenham interested in signing AC Milan midfielder, Spurs willing to pay price tag

that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing AC Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu to replace Christian Eriksen this month, and are willing to pay his £17million price tag.

Milan’s number 10, Calhanoglu, broke onto the scene with Bayer Leverkusen – having a hand in 57 goals during 115 outings from attacking midfield. The 47-time Turkey cap instantly became renowned for his long-range shooting and set-piece ability.

It earned him an £18.5million move to AC Milan in the summer of 2017, but after little more than two years – he is already being hounded out of the club for a lack of form. He has scored 14 goals and created 24 more in 109 games.

Now, Milan are willing to let him leave before the end of the month and with Christian Eriksen expected to complete a move to Inter, Spurs may look to the Nerrazzuri’s bitter rivals to replace the Dane. Spurs are willing to pay his £17million asking price.

TBR’s view – Calhanoglu better than Milan form, Spurs the ideal fit

Eriksen, at his best, had the ability of being able to change a game with the flick of his right foot. Whether that be a pass, a set-piece or a long-range effort. Calhanoglu is capable of doing all three, if he returns to his best form.

At a bargain £17million fee, Calhanoglu would be an excellent signing for Tottenham – especially given that Spurs are likely to receive a similar fee for Eriksen, meaning they will hardly be out of pocket in their bid to sign Calhanoglu.
