Report: Tottenham identify £50m-rated plan B if Hojbjerg move fails
🐬Tottenham Hotspur remain in pole position to sign Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg but that if a deal to sign the Dane fails to go through, then Spurs will target Lille star Boubakary Soumare.
𒁃Hojbjerg, 24, has been one of the bigger transfer sagas of the window so far, with Everton making a bid but the former Bayern Munich star seemingly set on a move to Jose Mourinho’s side in the coming months.
🎉But Soumare has emerged as the club’s plan B. Still only 21, Soumare has been strongly linked with a move to England. Soumare almost joined Newcastle in January, after a £35million bid was accepted.
🐈Now, Soumare is worth £50million and will be eyed by Spurs if they fail to sign Hojbjerg. Spurs have a strong connection with Lille having raided them for assistant Joao Sacramento and goalkeeping coach Nuno Santos.
TBR’s view – Soumare expensive, and will need time
🤡Plenty of potential, Soumare did not look out of place in this season’s Premier League. But he has just 69 senior appearances so far throughout his short career. Hojbjerg is cheaper, and a much better option.
♍Experienced in Germany and in the Premier League, Hojbjerg is a leader, is cheaper at around £30million and has 33 Austria caps. Both would be good signings, but Soumare would be a work-in-progress.
