Tottenham Hotspur could find it hard to sign £43m defender because of Manchester United

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are facing competition from Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United for Jean-Clair Todibo.

That is according to , which has noted the advantage that United have over Tottenham for the Nice central defender.

So, what has been reported about Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and ? Let’s take a look.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur linked with Jean-Clair Todibo

Well, according to , Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice in the January transfer window.

Nice value Todibo at €50 million (£42.84 million). The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that United are ahead of Spurs in the race for the defender because of Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

As reported by , Ratcliffe is about to acquire a stake at the Red Devils. The 71-year-old owns Nice.

Tottenham could beat Manchester United to Todibo signing

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign Jean-Clair Todibo ahead of Manchester United in the January transfer window.

I do not think that just because of the connection between Nice and Ratcliffe, Todibo will end up at United. It does not always work like that.

Spurs are a massive club who are based in London and are doing well in the Premier League. Tottenham reached the final of the UEFA Champions League not so long ago.

United have been a ‘project club’ for years now. They are nowhere near to winning the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

Tottenham are playing exciting football. There is a buzz around Spurs. I believe that Todibo could find a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hugely appealing.

Todibo is one of the best young centre-backs around and is also very underrated. Newcastle United have been linked with him as well.

The defender has given one assist in 13 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
