Report: Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal face new battle in hunt for £30m goal machine

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal could be set for a new battle in their reported pursuit of Raul Jimenez as Real Madrid are believed to have entered the race for the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker.

According to a report from earlier in March, both Jose Mourinho’s Spurs and Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are interested in the Mexico international.

Jimenez has been with Wolves since 2018, first on loan from Benfica and then joining permanently the following summer for a reported £30million fee ().

Since his arrival, Jimenez has been nothing short of sensational for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, notching up to date in the old gold.

He has also been a success for his nation, with 23 goals from 82 caps and a Gold Cup to his name.

As a result, it’s little surprise to see him linked with some big names, but Tottenham and Arsenal could now be coming up against arguably the biggest name in club football.

According to , Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane believes Jimenez would be an ideal fit either alongside Karim Benzema or leading the line in his absence.

The report also suggests that Jimenez may feel he has a point to prove in Madrid following his fruitless stint at Atletico in 2014-15, where he scored just once in 28 games.

TBR View:

Given Jimenez’s goalscoring exploits since joining Wolves, he would be an asset to any team, but with Real now reportedly keeping tabs on him, Spurs and Arsenal could now be set for a huge battle for his signature.

Spurs’ issues up front have been well documented, while the futures of Arsenal duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette remain in doubt.

Likewise, Real haven’t been at their best in front of goal this season, and with Mariano and Luka Jovic reportedly in line for the Bernabeu exit door, they could well be in need of reinforcements up front too.
