Report: Tottenham hoping Conte era leaves door open for South American to come in in future
that everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur would like to be able to attract Mauricio Pochettino once Antonio Conte moves on as manager.
Conte is only just beginning his tenure in North London. And many are, understandably, optimistic that he can be the manager to help Spurs clear that final hurdle and win trophies for the club again.
The Italian has a stunning track record. And Tottenham clearly have a number of outstanding players within their squad.
The decision to appoint Nuno Espirito Santo has ultimately come with an upside with Conte coming in off the back of his departure.
But of course, events could have played out differently had one of Spurs’ managerial targets ended up getting the post.
, talks with Pochettino took place over the summer. And he considered returning to the club. But obviously, he remained at Paris Saint-Germain.
Pochettino would not return on that occasion. But it would appear that some at the club hope that it is just a matter of time before the Argentinian does come back.
The Athletic reports that ‘everyone connected with Spurs’ hopes that Conte will leave the club in a place from where they were able to attract Pochettino – surely hinting that he would be their first-choice as his successor.

Landing Conte looked to be a massive coup for Tottenham given their mixed form under Nuno. So the fans will be desperately hoping that he enjoys a hugely successful tenure.
There is so much intrigue surrounding how Conte will fare. But if the pieces fall into place, it could be a game-changer for Tottenham.
And if Spurs can follow a successful time under Conte by appointing Pochettino, Tottenham are surely going to be amongst the heavyweights for years to come.
