Report: Tottenham have scouted Benoit Badiashile of Monaco

According to , Tottenham Hotspur have scouted Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile, while the French club like Spurs star Davinson Sanchez.
It is no secret at this point that Antonio Conte is really keen to sign a new defender to fill in at left centre-half. Ben Davies was phenomenal in that role in the back end of last season, but for Spurs to go to the next level, they need an upgrade.
Alessandro Bastoni was Conte’s preferred option, but the Italian has no interest in leaving Inter Milan this summer. Josko Gvardiol is another player Tottenham reportedly like, but RB Leipzig in the window.
Other defenders like Pau Torres and Clement Lenglet have also been linked, but it’s Badiashile’s name that has caught our attention.
Tottenham have scouted Benoit Badiashile
Badiashile is no stranger to links to the Premier League.
The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window, with reports even claiming that he was ready to move to St James’ Park.
The £40 million-rated centre-half has now been linked with a move to Tottenham, and we must say, he’d be a great fit. Badiashile is hugely talented, is among the best defenders in Ligue 1, and the fact that he’s still only 21 means he’ll only get better in the coming years.
When Zinedine Zidane was at the helm at Real Madrid, he reportedly wanted to sign Badiashile, which is when Spanish outlet AS went on to brand him as ‘The new Raphael Varane‘. That is some praise for someone so young and it is no surprise that Spurs are scouting him.

Swap deal possibility
The report claims that while Tottenham have scouted Badiashile, the young defender’s club, Monaco, really like Tottenham centre-half Davinson Sanchez.
The Colombian joined Spurs for a then-club-record £42 million fee (), but he just hasn’t lived up to the hype. He has fallen down the pecking order at Tottenham, and it really doesn’t look like he has a future at the club.
Since Spurs like Badiashile and Monaco are fans of Sanchez, the difficult-yet-obvious solution would be a swap deal of some sort that would see both clubs getting the players they want.
That would be excellent for Tottenham, but whether Conte and Fabio Paratici will try to pull it off in the coming weeks remains to be seen.
