Report: Tottenham handed transfer blow as 21-year-old who Antonio Conte thinks is ‘special’ is about to sign a new deal
Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly been handed a fresh transfer blow in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon, with reporting that he’s close to signing a new deal with Everton.
Spurs look set to dip into the market for another attacking option after Conte was left short before the World Cup break.
The Italian boss was without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Heung-Min Son as the trio were sidelined. Conte was forced to bring Lucas Moura back into action after the Brazilian had spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines himself.
Spurs were linked with a move for Gordon over the summer and clamed they even offered £100 million for both him and Richarlison.
Of course, the Brazilian star made the switch to north London while Gordon has remained at Goodison Park. And it looks like the 21-year-old is set to extend his stay in Merseyside.

Gordon about to sign new deal
reports that Gordon is close to committing his future with Frank Lampard’s men by signing a new long-term contract.
The Toffees are now in the process of finalising the deal and an announcement could come before the January window opens.
Chelsea and Spurs were the two sides leading the race to sign Gordon, but he now looks set to put pen to paper.
claimed last month that Tottenham were the frontrunners to sign Gordon, but it seems that they could miss out on the winger for the time being.
Conte is thought to be a big fan of the youngster and thinks he is a ‘special’ talent. But the Italian may now have to look at other targets ahead of the January window.

Spurs will need to target another attacking player after the absence of Kulusevski dramatically affected their form before the World Cup.
has reported that Conte wants ‘quality’ cover for the Swedish winger and Gordon could have been an ideal fit for the role.
But as Everton were set to demand around £60 million for the winger, Tottenham would have been taking a huge risk by paying such a hefty fee for a player who is still relatively unproven at the highest level.
