Report: Tottenham handed transfer blow as 21-year-old who Antonio Conte thinks is ‘special’ is about to sign a new deal
Tottenham Hotspur have seemingly been handed a fresh transfer blow in their pursuit of Anthony Gordon, with reporting that he’s close to signing a new deal with Everton.
Spurs look set to dip into the market for another attacking option after Conte was left short before the World Cup break.
The Italian boss was without Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison and Heung-Min Son as the trio were sidelined. Conte was forced to bring Lucas Moura back into action after the Brazilian had spent a lengthy spell on the sidelines himself.
Spurs were linked with a move for Gordon over the summer and clamed they even offered £100 million for both him and Richarlison.
Of course, the Brazilian star made the switch to north London while Gordon has remained at Goodison Park. And it looks like the 21-year-old is set to extend his stay in Merseyside.

The Toffees are now in the process of finalising the deal and an announcement could come before the January window opens.

But as Everton were set to demand around £60 million for the winger, Tottenham would have been taking a huge risk by paying such a hefty fee for a player who is still relatively unproven at the highest level.
