Report: Club pulls plug on move for £60k-a-week Spurs player, had been offered contract

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose had looked set to be on the way out of Spurs this month, according a report from on Friday.

However, the that Trabzonspor have pulled the plug on a move for the out-of-favour full-back.

Rose had reportedly been offered a three-and-a-half-year contract by the Turkish club after an agreement was reached over a transfer.

However, the move now looks to have fallen through after they admitted it would be “very difficult” to sign the Tottenham star, due to quarantine rules.

“The transfer is very difficult after this time,” Trabzonspor president Ahmet Agaoglu is quoted by as saying.

“It will cost seven days. Let’s make the transfers we can do [right now].”

Rose has been on Tottenham’s books since 2007, making 214 competitive senior appearances for the Lilywhites.

However, he has barely featured after Jose Mourinho took the Spurs reins, culminating in a half-season loan deal at Newcastle last term.

This season, the left-back has been left out of Tottenham’s Premier League and Europa League squads this season and has been playing for the club’s development side.

TBR View:

Rose has been a great player over the years for Tottenham, but with Mourinho rendering him surplus to requirements and his contract coming to an end soon, it’s safe to say his time at Spurs is coming to an end this year.

Trabzonspor are a decent side that came within four points of winning the Superlig title last season and a player like Rose would’ve certainly offered them a lot of quality.

However, if true, this cruel twist means the defender is now faced with having to find another club in the space of two days, or face another six months with no senior game time.
