Report: Tottenham can re-sign player reportedly offered to them for just £1.7m

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been offered Napoli striker Fernando Llorente just half a season after leaving Spurs to join the Serie A side, and another report has claimed that Spurs could land the striker for a tiny fee.

that Spurs have been offered the chance to bring 34-year-old Llorente back to north London, with Harry Kane sidelined until April with a torn hamstring. Lucas Moura has filled in for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Spurs also boast Troy Parrott and Son Heung-min as options – but the latter is better off as a winger while Parrott is only 17. Llorente could become an option, despite leaving after 66 appearances in two seasons with Spurs.

Since his move to Napoli, he has scored four goals in 22 games. , Tottenham can land the 24-time Spain international and 2010 World Cup winner for a bargain £1.7million – with his contract ending in 2021.

TBR’s view – Llorente could be a better player under Mourinho

With Mauricio Pochettino in charge, Spurs were more inclined to keep the ball on the deck and only look to get the ball in the box if they were chasing a game. When those instances occured, Llorente impressed.

He laid on a crucial assist from a long ball for one of Moura’s three goals in the Ajax come back, and came into his own against Manchester City in the quarter-final. Under Mourinho, Spurs have been much more direct, using the long ball.

Under Mourinho, then, Llorente could become a more effective player for Spurs than he was under Pochettino due to the difference in tactics. At just £1.7million, it is worth paying to find out.
