Report: Tottenham, Arsenal, Bruce and Klopp all want 23-year-old goalkeeper

Premier League quartet Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool are all interested in Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.

Cakir, 23, hs impressed onlooking scouts with a number of top performances for Trabzonspor this season. The Turkish’s sides leaky defence has conceded 18 goals in 13 games, but it would have been a lot more had it been for the one-time Turkey cap.

Although he is yet to keep a clean sheet this term, Cakir kept seven clean sheets in 25 matches last season – conceding just 28 goals. It has caught the attention of some of the Premier League’s biggest sides.

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris is injured until the new year, while Martin Dubravka has been heavily linked with Juventus in the past. Liverpool sold Simon Mignolet in the summer, while Petr Cech retired from Arsenal at the end of last season.

Cakir has been previously linked with Liverpool, with claiming Liverpool scouted him in September.

TBR’s view – Which side would be best for Cakir?

It is clear in his performances – including in the Europa League – that Cakir is good enough for the Premier League. But Newcastle would be the best move for Cakir, if Dubravka does eventually leave The Toon.

That is because Alisson is unlikely to leave Liverpool, Lloris remains Spurs’ captain and is expected to remain at Spurs while Bernd Leno is undoubtedly Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper. Dubravka is the most likely to leave.

So, a move to St. James’ Park would be best for Cakir.
