Report: Tottenham and Newcastle make enquiries for Lille star Jonathan Ikone
have claimed – – that Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have made enquiries to sign Lille star Jonathan Ikone.
Ikone, 22, has been in excellent form for Lille this season – having a hand in 11 goals during 2019-20. Able to play out wide, in the 10 role or in central midfield, he has clocked up 77 appearances for Lille in two seasons.
He has also become a four-time France international since Luis Campos lured him to Lille from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 for just £4.5million (). He has since had a hand in 24 goals during those 77 matches.
According to back in March, Everton and Manchester United wanted to sign Ikone this summer with a £60million price tag on his head. Now, Tottenham and Newcastle have enquired.

TBR’s view – Ikone is a top, top talent – but for £60m?
There is no doubt that Ikone is going to become a regular player in France’s national team for years to come. But is he worth £60million? Right now, in the current climate, that figure is far too expensive.
Perhaps if that figure was reduced by a third, a deal would pose more value for money. Goals, assists, Champions League experience, four France caps and versatility – Ikone could be a great signing for an English club this summer.
