Report: Tottenham and Leeds scout clash to watch ‘elite’ youngster

Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur were amongst the clubs to send scouts to watch Calvin Ramsay in action for Aberdeen on Tuesday, .

Ramsay is establishing himself as one of the most promising youngsters in the Scottish Premiership. In fact, Dons chairman Dave Cormack has claimed that he is amongst the ‘‘ when it comes to young right-backs in Europe.

He has been a regular at Pittodrie when he has been fit this term. And he made his latest start this week as Stephen Glass’ men hosted champions Rangers.

The game ended 1-1. It was Lewis Ferguson who scored the equaliser for the home side. But it would appear that it was Ramsay who was on the radar of many of the scouts in attendance.

that Spurs, Leeds, Southampton, Leicester and Manchester United all had representatives at the game. But there is also interest from Bologna and Eintracht Frankfurt.

Aberdeen meanwhile, are believed to want more than £6 million for Ramsay. They would also like the 18-year-old back on loan for the rest of the season if he does move.

Ramsay not the only young right-back Leeds and Tottenham are battling over

Ramsay would not be the first Premiership right-back to move to England in this window. Nathan Patterson left Rangers for Everton earlier in the month.

And the Aberdeen starlet is also not the only young right-back attracting the attention of both Leeds and Tottenham.

Both clubs are reportedly keen on signing Djed Spence from Middlesbrough. Like Ramsay, a deal for Spence would likely involve a loan deal. The right-back is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, and has already played for two clubs this term.

Spence’s asking price is said to be around £10 million. So it will be interesting to see which player the likes of Leeds and Tottenham deem to be better value.
