Report: Tottenham and Arsenal have opened talks with Amadou Diawara’s agent
that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks with the agent of Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara over a potential move before october 5.
Diawara, 23, only joined Roma from Napoli last summer but impressed during his 30 league and cup appearances for Paulo Fonseca’s side. A 10-time Guinea international, Diawara has already surpassed 100 appearances in Serie A football.
It remains to be seen how much Diawara could cost any interested parties, with Roma having spent £19million () last summer to lure him to the Stadio Olimpico. The report states both north London clubs have made contact with his agent.
Arsenal are said to be ready to include Lucas Torreira in a deal to nab Diawara – but face competition from Spurs. His agent Daniele Piraino is quoted by Messaggero: “There is a week left for the transfer market, we would like clarity on his role.”

TBR’s view – Diawara’s passing ability makes him a bargain
Diawara would be a bargain if Spurs or Arsenal can get Diawara at the £19million Roma paid. In his 22 appearances in Italy’s top tier for Roma, Diawara averaged a successful passing rate of 89%. So, given his passing qualities and age, Diawara is a bargain.
In an Arsenal side that struggled in midfield against Liverpool on Monday night, Diawara would have added a Kante-like intelligence and the kind passing needed to get Arsenal up the pitch. Spurs. meanwhile, have excellent midfielders.
But they need a big squad as they embark on a Europa League campaign, and Diawara would be excellent cover for Jose Mourinho’s side as competition for the likes of Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
