Report: Tottenham and Arsenal considering £41m move for Barcelona star
that Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both considering meeting Barcelona’s asking price of £41million for winger Malcom.
Malcom, 22, joined Barcelona from French side Bordeaux last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £40million. However, last season he struggled to make an impact at the Nou Camp.
Indeed, the uncapped Brazilian managed just 24 appearances for Barcelona – in which he only found the back of the net on four occasions. The season before at Bordeaux, he scored 12 and created eight goals.
Now, it is claimed that Malcom will be allowed to leave Ernesto Valverde’s side this summer – especially with the potential of Neymar returning to the club. Barcelona have set his asking price at £41million.
It is believed that Arsenal and Tottenham are considering an offer for the player, with Spurs’ stance much depending on the future of Christian Eriksen. Meanwhile, Everton are also said to be keen, but their offer is below the price tag.
TBR’s view – Tottenham can do better than Malcom
Looking at Malcom’s stats during his time at Bordeaux, it is unclear as to why Barcelona opted to sign the attacker. Yes, he is young, boasts bags of pace and has an eye for goal, but he was never Barcelona standard.
His lack of appearances or goals proved that during 2018-19. With Tottenham now Champions League finalists, they too can do better. The club continue to be linked with Giovani Lo Celso and Paulo Dybala.
Signing one, or even both of those players is a whole level above the signing of Malcom.
