Report: Tottenham ‘almost certain’ to complete Joachim Andersen signing, talks ongoing for Lyon defender
that Lyon defender Joachim Andersen is ‘almost certain’ to remain in London after a loan spell at Fulham. That is because the centre-back’s club are in talks with Tottenham, who are likely to complete a transfer for Andersen despite interest from other London clubs.
Andersen, 25, has been a rare shining light in what was a disappointing season for Fulham. Joining the club on Lyon, he was so impressive that Scott Parker handed Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s Denmark teammate the captain’s armband. Tottenham want him signed.
The report claims that numerous London clubs are interested in Andersen – but that Spurs are in talks with Lyon. It is now ‘almost certain’ that the defender will remain in London, as talks continue over a £19million deal progress. Spurs desperately need a defender or two this summer.

Is Andersen the perfect defensive transfer at Tottenham?
Well, he is certainly a massive improvement on Tottenham’s current options. Any time Davinson Sanchez starts, Tottenham might as well start with a 1-0 or a 2-0 deficit. Eric Dier has been inconsistent and Toby Alderweireld has certainly past his peak – and then some.
Andersen gives Tottenham a ball-playing defender that is strong in the air. Perhaps not the most mobile, he is one half of a near-perfect centre-back partnership. Spurs need Andersen, and then a nasty, gritty defender alongside him. With Antonio Conte arriving, Milan Skriniar – perhaps?
What could help Spurs is that Andersen is represented by ICM Stellar Sports, the same agency that look after Gareth Bale and Ben Davies – a Spurs have been linked for some time with Andersen, with last month reports claiming they were on pole.
