Report: Title-winners set sights on Leeds-linked 20-year-old, available for £7m

Norwich City have set their sights on Leeds United target Pedro De La Vega as a potential Emiliano Buendia replacement, according to .

The Canaries sold Buendia to Aston Villa for £33million () following their promotion as Championship winners. He becomes the Villans’ record signing on a five-year contract after scoring 15 goals and penning 16 assists last season.

Daniel Farke has identified a handful of potential replacements for the Argentine at Carrow Road, including De La Vega. Norwich are yet to make an offer for the Lanus forward, who is also wanted at Fiorentina under Gennaro Gattuso.

Lanus are not opposed to selling De La Vega, who is one of the best youth talents the club have developed in years. A deal for the 20-year-old would cost at least $10million (£7m), per , however.

Aston Villa and Fiorentina could yet face further competition from the Premier League and Serie A, as well. Depo add that Leeds are also keen to bring De La Vega to England, while Atalanta are exploring his situation.

Gattuso has already contacted De La Vega to discuss a move to the Artemio Franchi Stadium, as he seeks to reinforce the Fiorentina offence. The Argentina U23 international has scored and offered one assist in 17 games this season.

TBR’s view: Leeds should step up De La Vega interest

De La Vega may still be a young prospect untested outside of Argentina, but Leeds should step up their interest. The Elland Road outfit will rue missing out on the youngster if they do not pursue a deal before Norwich.

Leeds would add a versatile forward to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad with a move for the Lanus product. He can operate on either side of the attack, while his quick footwork can get him out of tight situations.

De La Vega is smart with his movement off the ball and keeps his head up looking for a pass when on it, as well. Bielsa would have to polish off some rough edges after his arrival, but Leeds would acquire a promising talent.
