Report: Sunderland show interest in James Wilson

According to the , Sunderland are amongst the clubs interested in signing striker James Wilson. The 23-year-old is set to become a free agent when his current contract with Manchester United expires. Wilson has apparently been offered a deal by Aberdeen, where he spent last season on loan. However, the Black Cats, Preston North End and a number of MLS outfits are also apparently keeping tabs on the attacker.

Wilson impressed at times for Aberdeen last season. However, his end product left something to be desired. He is a player with plenty of potential though, and it’s easy to see why Jack Ross may be keen to bring him to the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland fell just short of promotion from League One last season. Ross will be desperate to bolster his squad this summer to ensure that his side secure a return to the Championship this time around. Wilson would certainly provide an injection of extra quality into the Black Cats’ attacking contingent.

Wilson needs to get his career back on track and have an opportunity to play regular first team football. A switch to Sunderland would give him an excellent chance of achieving that.
