Report states West Ham are leading race for player Mario Husillos signed as a teenager

West Ham United are reportedly leading the race for Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals. That is according to reports in Spain this week.that despite interest from several teams in January, only one team remain keen.

Manuel Pellegrini is said to still want the 23-year-old this summer and a move for the player is now on the cards. The report goes on to state that Fornals currently has a €25 million (£23 million) release clause that can be activated.

That sort of fee should undoubtedly have West Ham making a move for the talented playmaker.

In today’s modern transfer world, that should be considered a bargain for such a young player who already has two caps for the Spanish national team.

Fornals is also known to both West Ham manager Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos. The pair were in charge of the club, Husillos as sporting director, in 2012. That is when Fornals was brought in from Castellon as a teenager.

Fornals possesses great talent, is affordable and the men in charge at West Ham know plenty about his talent already.

With that in mind, a transfer switch makes perfect sense.
